I need help with a legal case?
I was first pulled over for a traffic violation at 2am. I told the officer that I was aware that I was on the wrong side of the road (that's why I was stopped), I was about to grab out my GPS too and that I wasn't familiar with the area because I was from out of town. He asked me for my registration and license I gave him everything then he decided to pull me out of the car and do sobriety tests. I tried to refuse but I was so nervous and had to use the bathroom that I just decided to cooperate thinking that it would be over fast. I told the officer 3 times that I couldn't do the coordination tests because I already have bad coordination as it is. He then decided to arrest me for DUI. He let my friend drive my car even after he asked for identification and license number and she told him she didn't have it. He then took me to the police station and I blew a .09. I recieved a traffic violation, MIP, and DUI. I am really upset because I was down the street from where I needed to be I just needed help by my GPS, I'm also upset he let my friend drive without a license. This is my first offense and I don't know what to do or who to go to. I don't have money to afford an attorney so will a court appointed attorney help me on this case? Is it possible that I can have the case plead to reckless driving instead of DUI? I live in the state of Oregon and I already know that I am going to do diversion, I just want to know if there's a chance I can have the DUI dropped and plead guilty to reckless driving since I knew that I was aware I was going the wrong way and I was just down the street from my destionation?
